Anyone interested in walks in Staffs, Derbys, Cheshire?
by Muddy Boots

Hi, in my previous post the headline didn't give any clue about the walks I'm planning in my area.
I'm a member of other walking groups but I sometimes find their walks a bit limiting and slow. For that reason I'm planning to lead a few walks within a one hour drive of my home, covering The Staffordshire Moorlands, Western Peak District, North Shropshire, South/East Cheshire for example. They will be in the 6 to 12 mile walking distance range. I would also limit the numbers of walkers to make them more manageable and sociable.
Is anyone interested? If so, it would be helpful if you could indicate if you would prefer mid-week or weekend walks.

Hi Mike, this another Mike replying. We used to have quite a few members in that neck of the woods, but they either moved or stopped or formed separate cliques, so I'm glad about your post. I'm love to do more walks in that region, such as the area traversed by the Gritstone and Moorlands Trails, Churnet Valley, Roaches, western edges of the Peak. Problem for me is that usually I only have time during the week, other than a few unpredictable weekends.
FcFlat cap (Mike)Hi Mike. I work part time so mid week is fine for me. All those places are good for me as well. Hopefully we get a few more takers? I'm new to this site so any suggestions how to create interest or find walkers generally?
There isn't really much to advise. Put an invite on for a Wednesday or Thursday, choose a nice location and reasonable distance, and hope for the best. There ought to be some interest.
FcFlat cap (Mike)Hi Mike, welcome to the site. I live in Shropshire close to the Staffordshire border so easy for me to access the areas you are considering. I can do weekends and during the weekend so will look out for future invites and hopefully can make some of them🙂
KBKateBHi Mike. I'm in Chester so would certainly look out for walks in the areas you've suggested. I work part-time but could perhaps be flexible for walks during the week. As the other Mike says, put up an invite with a definite date. That way, people can say for sure if they can make it 🙂
clclearblueskyHi- I’m from the Lakes but frequently visit South Derbyshire to see my mum. It might be I would be interested in a shorter walk but it would need to be at the weekend I’m afraid. Anyway I thought I’d throw that into the pot! Thanks for organising!
Looks like there's enough to start a small core of local walkers Mike. Generally Invites start slow, often with just a couple of you, but its interesting how it can expand to a group of regulars, with a crowded photo appearing the the pictures section posed on a bridge. 😀 I'd encourage you to post a date or two and see who bites.
Im really interested in local walks as I am not far from Leek/Staffordshire Moorlands - look forward to seeing the invite.
ShSherfiI'm interested in walks in Derbyshire and Cheshire too of medium length weekdays are fine
kakayakingwalkerHi, yes mid week walks in Cheshire or Staffordshire are good for me too (except Tuesdays 🙂)
SWSueWHi Mike, a little late replying but I would be intersted in joining a walk. I don't work on Fridays and I have school holidays off - I will try to check in more regularly to see if there is a walk posted!
ElElliewalkerHey Mike, if you do and I can get to them, I'd be interesed.
I would try my best to join in on weekday walks!😊
