I’ve changed my booking so 🤞🤞🤞🤞 again

JohnH   on 23/02/21 @ 19:08 said:

Wee Nicola has been over protective, we'll be in lockdown till July ....... 2022!!
I'm going to look for a site nearby where I can join in with the walks but use my campervan

Highpeakman   on 23/02/21 @ 19:54 said:

Sorry Billy, I can't make this weekend. Have fun I'll see you later in the year.

Wild Adventuress   on 23/02/21 @ 23:53 said:

So close I could walk to join you! Depends on work but hopefully retired by then 😊

Kate H   on 24/02/21 @ 9:10 said:

Accommodation sorted !

JohnH   on 24/02/21 @ 10:41 said:

AS with Borisdale One, I'd like to come to the meet but I'd really like to use my campervan rather than mt tent, so if anyone has any ideas on how I could do that please let me know.
I've already been in touch with Chapel House Farm which would be ideal but as yet they are not taking bookings.

Bigfoot   on 24/02/21 @ 17:01 said:

Hi John, i'm sure there are usually a few people sleeping in their campervans at the YHA, I don't know if they pay for a camping pitch and then just use their van or not.

Bigfoot   on 24/02/21 @ 17:09 said:

As it happens this weekend coincides with the Keswick Mountain festival, so we could take in a concert on one night, Fri or Sat, we can decide this a bit nearer the time.

Bigfoot   on 24/02/21 @ 17:15 said:

Dale & Kate H, glad you could re book accommodation, W A hope you can get up the valley to join us for a walk or 2, and Derek what can I say you will be missed, not sure by who but I'm sure you will be missed.

Dale   on 24/02/21 @ 17:20 said:

Bigfoot: well fancy that, we had a great time at the festival last year didn’t we? I’m surprised it’s on

JohnH   on 24/02/21 @ 21:30 said:

Bigfoot, that thought had crossed my mind, to book a tent pitch, pitch a tent then just use my van.
This morning I phoned the Chapel House Farm site, which is just across the road, but they are not taking bookings till a week or 10 days, so my plan is to try and get that site and if not then I could try the tent trick.
The Caravan and Motorhome Club have a site in Borrowdale but they are completely closed at the moment, but that's another possibility.
One way or another it's most likely I'll be there.

JohnH   on 24/02/21 @ 21:35 said:

The other problem I've got is that wee Nicola is proceeding very cautiously and even by that time in May we may be travel restricted. I've already had my first jag (vaccination in Scots!!!😀) and probably even my second by then, so I'll see how the land lies nearer the time but I'll most likely just come down.

Highpeakman   on 25/02/21 @ 9:13 said:

😂💋 Luv u Billy...😂

Bal   on 25/02/21 @ 11:33 said:

Two years ago Dale I think-time flies eh .
Sorry Billy can’t do that weekend as things stand .

JohnH   on 25/02/21 @ 12:52 said:

That's me booked for 4 nights, I'm going to come down on the Thursday. I've got to pitch a tent and if I have to sleep in it that's not a problem as I can eat etc in my van. 😀
And surely by that time travel restrictions will be lifted, if not I'll sneak over the border in the dead of night 😂

lizzied   on 25/02/21 @ 17:32 said:

Hi Billy! I’d love to go to Keswick Mountain Festival again- it was such fun in 2019- but wasn’t everything?!!!And it would be wonderful to go to a live gig too, so I’m happily convincing myself to come up in the Bongo! Tina and I are hoping to plan a trip in Yorkshire (May 7th-14th )though, so there’s a bit of a gap!! I guess I could find something to do for a few days!! I’ll change my status asap x

shaz65   on 25/02/21 @ 20:26 said:

This sounds great. I have MTB and climbing kit and keen for both. Also a camper van so would be good to meet up over the weekend.

Rachael234   on 28/02/21 @ 14:57 said:

Myself and David booked in to campsite down the road. Hopefully see you on some of the walks.

Flat cap (Mike)   on 01/03/21 @ 11:28 said:

booked in the YHA campsite. Jan is coming as well, but she has to renew her OD membership first before she can confirm. We come in my microcamper but because of the limited space we'll sleep in a tent.

TC   on 01/03/21 @ 16:45 said:

I'll probably join you for one or two walks.

Bigfoot   on 01/03/21 @ 19:45 said:

Looks like the Keswick festival is going ahead, I suggest we take in the concert on one night £21, I have no preference Fri or Sat, lets take a quick poll and then decide, there may be limits, although it looks like 4,000 is the limit which I don't think there was that many last time we went. so Bad Manners or Space you decide.

barbp-j   on 05/03/21 @ 16:25 said:

Hi Billy, just booked into yha for 2 nights, working on the Monday, won’t be up till at the earliest 7.30 on Friday night so music would be better for me on the Saturday night if that works with others , thanks for organising x

Ally & Dave   on 05/03/21 @ 18:14 said:

This looks like a great weekend with lots of familiar faces. Will hopefully sort out a weekend away in Beaky for this.

going4gold   on 05/03/21 @ 19:28 said:

Will try to book some accommodation
Late can we use our remaining credit ?
Lizzie - if we are allowed your welcome to come stay with me for a few night or park the Bongo at the farm if you prefer xx

going4gold   on 05/03/21 @ 19:29 said:

I just need to buy a new MTB -:)

Bigfoot   on 07/03/21 @ 16:55 said:

Keswick Festival postponed to Sept, we will have to entertain ourselves.

Philtheetiler   on 09/03/21 @ 18:31 said:

Bigfoot: entertain myself ???? 😮

JohnH   on 10/03/21 @ 22:07 said:

Regarding entertainment I have entertained at the Borrowdale YH before and would be happy to do it again 😀

busyBee   on 12/03/21 @ 17:24 said:

The site has only Friday available.. any recommendations somewhere near? Please

JohnH   on 12/03/21 @ 21:07 said:

Chapel House Farm site is just across the road, it's only a few hundred yards away and they take campervans, their web site is:
Hope you can book it OK

lizzied   on 21/03/21 @ 20:43 said:

Chapel House Farm are not yet taking bookings unfortunately!!
They suggested checking their website frequently for any change in status.

JohnH   on 21/03/21 @ 21:18 said:

I tried them before I booked the YH and that's what they told me, just keep checking their web site. They obviously don't want the hassle of taking bookings then having to give refunds.
Anyhoo, I hope they start soon, the more at Borrowdale the better and their site is literally just across the road from the YH

fresh air   on 02/04/21 @ 10:19 said:

On as a maybe Bill.
Let you know for definitely in due course 👍

Tracy (no 'e'!)   on 06/04/21 @ 17:08 said:

I’d love to come but can’t find anywhere to stay just yet. Got a campervan too. Chapel House Farm are not open until the beginning of June, and the CCC sites near Keswick don’t appear to have anything available. Camping at the YHA is full too. I’ll keep looking.

Wild Adventuress   on 10/04/21 @ 19:48 said:

Hoping to join you all on walks in Borrowdale. Have my second jab in Kendal on the Sunday so may have to leave early.

Flat cap (Mike)   on 22/04/21 @ 11:47 said:

1 place at YHA Borrowdale campsite anybody? Jan and I had to relocate because the manager wouldn't allow 2 people in the tent. Before I cancel the booking I thought I ask if somebody may want the place.

Kate H   on 23/04/21 @ 12:14 said:

Im dropping out as it's very busy for me at the mo with maths tuition so I need to grab it while I can !! I won't cancel the hotel room just yet so let me know in the next day or so if you are interested in it .....

Andy W   on 23/04/21 @ 21:29 said:

Mike have you cancelled your spot at YHA Borrowdale?

Tracy (no 'e'!)   on 25/04/21 @ 11:04 said:

Sorry Andy W, I’ve got Mike’s space. Looking forward to the weekend!

Are there any plans to eat together in the evenings?

Andy W   on 07/05/21 @ 8:15 said:

I'm sure that collectively we can make some social arrangements through this forum after the weekend activities are announced.
I'm not sure that all members are receiving email notifications.

busyBee   on 08/05/21 @ 22:51 said:

I'm hoping to get .. just thinking I'll have to park up somewhere and take my chances🤔

I'm booked onto borrowdale caravan site.. 👍

Dale   on 11/05/21 @ 9:18 said:

Anybody got any walks and stuff in the planning stage? 😁

Flat cap (Mike)   on 11/05/21 @ 10:07 said:

In case anybody is still struggling for a place, Hollows Farm in Grange has two camping fields - one remote for tents only and one accessible for campervans.

ʎqnᴚ   on 11/05/21 @ 10:50 said:

Dale: you going up Blencathra Friday lunch?

Dale   on 11/05/21 @ 13:07 said:

Ruby: ooh yes, let’s 😀

Andy W   on 11/05/21 @ 13:51 said:

Is the Hollows farm tent field operated on a first come basis or will I need to book. I have been ringing and reach an answer machine where I left my details.

ʎqnᴚ   on 11/05/21 @ 14:27 said:

Dale: put it up as an invite or people will talk! 🤣😅😂🤣😆

Flat cap (Mike)   on 11/05/21 @ 15:02 said:

@Andy W: You need to book as they had to mark pitches due to Covid, and also pay a deposit. The site is £9ppn.
From their email: "Check in time is strictly after 1.30pm and departure time is strictly before 11.30am. Pitches will be individually marked out to apply with social distancing. Toilets are open, strictly only 2 people in each block at any one time. Showers will be open. We will not be offering ice pack freezing facilities or phone’s charged at the farmhouse."

Andy W   on 11/05/21 @ 15:08 said:

Grange Farm fully booked.

Dale   on 11/05/21 @ 16:36 said:

Ruby: you put it up, I’ll be doing it anyway. The more the merrier though. All are welcome 😁😁😁 I will be going the easy way from Scales up to the tarn and up the shale path to the summit

Bigfoot   on 11/05/21 @ 17:54 said:

Hi All I don't have an itinerary for the weekend, I'm happy to do Glaramara on Friday so will post that up. As for the rest we can have a chat about this on Friday evening I suggest we meet at the YHA in the bar if it's open or outside by the tents, Mike and me plan to get a climb in if the weather is good, I will also have MTB if anybody fancies a ride.

Dale   on 11/05/21 @ 19:29 said:

Bigfoot: ok, I will drive down for the Friday night get together and take it from there 😃

Tracy (no 'e'!)   on 12/05/21 @ 8:48 said:

It seems like we may be doing or wanting to do different things, which is fine. The last time I was in Borrowdale I never made it up Great Gable on Remembrance Sunday as I had done too much on the Saturday, so I’d really like to do that.

Given that people are staying in different places I am happy to set up a WhatsApp group so we can keep in touch and co-ordinate meets, just message me your number.

Andy W   on 12/05/21 @ 9:11 said:

I have sent you an email re Whatsapp.

Dale   on 12/05/21 @ 9:18 said:

Brilliant idea Tracy, Steve, the little blue reply arrow is not working

Tracy (no 'e'!)   on 12/05/21 @ 17:17 said:

M1960   on 12/05/21 @ 19:27 said:

Tracy: I'm not definite for this, but I'd be grateful if you would add me to the WhatsApp group - I'll PM you my mobile number. Many thanks, Mark.

Dale: The little blue reply arrow isn't working for Tracy, but it is working for you - I've tried a few others and it's working for them too. 🤔

busyBee   on 12/05/21 @ 20:56 said:

Tracy, I've emailed you..
I've got a space with my van on hollows farm, Thurs Friday at least 👍🙂

Dale   on 12/05/21 @ 21:06 said:
