Dating for Climbers and Mountaineers
Many of my friends find me odd. As a climber and mountaineer my joy of vertical faces, high mountain ridges and snow covered landscapes is considered weird. It is no surprise that finding someone to share my passions with can be difficult. Mountaineering is not a mass sport, and dating someone who likes the outdoors and mountains as I do can be difficult. Finding a date in a pub/club or amongst friends and colleagues "into" these sports is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Most people have tried the club scene, but dating successfully requires singles, and clubs tend to have a static membership of couples.
Online Dating Rescues Mountaineers and Climbers
OutdoorDuo is a specialist dating site for outdoor people, and if you are seeking a climber or mountianeer to date it is a good place to start. Your mountaineering profile will include the outdoor sports you like, not just climbing and mountaineering, but also paddling, cycling, sailing, scrambling and more...
Further, the other members are self selecting; they are all single like you, looking for a relationship with an outdoor person like you, and probably into walking, climbing and mountaineering.
Climb or Scramble for a First date
As a climber or mountaineer it makes sense to make your first date an active date. You could meet up locally, or perhaps arrange a meeting at one of the many climbing and mountaineering locations across the UK.
Online Dating Works
A recent study at Bath University concluded that,
“... online dating can work for many people, leading to a successful meeting for almost everyone we surveyed.
“... it seems that these relationships have a similar level of success as ones formed in more conventional ways.
“We found that men tend to be more committed to the online relationships than women, possibly because the anonymity of writing gives them a chance to express their emotions more readily than in real life." Dr Jeff Gavin. http://www.bath.ac.uk /
